MANILA, Philippines — A Muntinlupa court on Monday issued a gag order against actor and television host Marvic “Vic” Sotto and his representatives, prohibiting them from publicly disclosing or discussing details of a case filed over the teaser for the upcoming film, “The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma.”

In a three-page omnibus order, presiding Judge Liezel Aquiatan of the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 205 granted the urgent motion for a gag order filed last week by the director, Darryl Yap.

“All parties are directed to observe strict confidentiality in compliance with the sub judice rule, ensuring that the case proceedings and any related matters remain undisclosed to the public until resolved,” the order read in part.

The court also canceled Wednesday’s hearing and rescheduled it to Friday.

Sotto has sued Yap for P35 million on 19 counts of cyberlibel over the 26-second teaser for the film, which tagged him as one of the rapists of 1980s starlet Pepsi Paloma.

In his complaint, Sotto accused Yap of making “defamatory imputations” against him.
